Guide
From installation to updates – the most important steps.
- In the Joomla back end, open System → Install → Extensions.
- Upload the ZIP file of J!DMS Free or Pro.
- J!DMS appears under Components → J!DMS with the items "Documents" and "Categories".
- Open Components → J!DMS → Documents.
- Optionally choose a category for the new receipts.
- Drag files onto the drop zone or click it. Each file shows its progress; duplicates are reported and skipped.
Click a title in the list. You can change the title, category, receipt date, note and the recognised text and restart text recognition. Several receipts can be selected in the list and re-recognised together.
- Menus → New menu item, type "J!DMS – Document list".
- Choose one or more categories (hold Ctrl or Shift).
- Set filters and display in the "Display" tab.
Visitors only see published documents in published categories with a matching access level.
- Copy the download key in the customer area.
- In Joomla go to Components → J!DMS → Options, tab "Licence", paste the key and save.
- Open the document list once. At the bottom it then says "Licence key set for …".
Updates then appear under System → Update → Extensions.
Deleted or replaced files leave unused space in the database table. In the document list, Free up storage rebuilds the table and returns the space to the server. Make a database backup first.
All CSS files in the folder media/com_jdms/css/custom/ are loaded after the standard CSS. A description of all CSS classes is in the file README.txt in that folder. For your own HTML structure, use template overrides.
For text recognition, J!DMS loads the libraries Tesseract.js and pdf.js from public CDNs (jsDelivr, cdnjs) by default. This transmits the user's IP address to the CDN operator. You can store the libraries on your own server and enter their addresses in the J!DMS options, tab "Text recognition".
